New UMTS Library Now Available for QualNet 4.5.1  Sample UMTS network architecture supported by QualNet SNT has just released a new UMTS Library for QualNet 4.5.1. UMTS is a 3G cellular technology that provides digital voice and high-speed data access to mobile users. UMTS is sold separately as a free-standing library. QualNet customers who have already purchased UMTS may download the library, along with QualNet 4.5.1, on their download page. Customers interested in trying out UMTS may request an evaluation of the UMTS Library by sending an email to sales@scalable-networks.com (you will need to upgrade to QualNet 4.5.1). New QualNet evaluators will automatically receive UMTS when they try out QualNet. The UMTS library is built on the 3GPP Release 7 standards. It supports detailed simuation models for WCDMA, HSDPA, UMTS Layer 2 and UMTS Layer 3. The UMTS Library also includes protocols for modeling the following node types: UE, Node B, RNC, SGSN, HLR and GGSN. For more details on the UMTS Library, see the UMTS data sheet. QualNet World 2008 Call for Papers QualNet World is the best time of the year for the exchange of ideas around SNT technologies. This year, SNT's top customers and partners are gathering to learn what others are doing with QualNet in San Diego, CA. We encourage all customers to submit an abstract to be a panelist and present their QualNet project. QualNet World will take place at the Hotel Solamar in San Diego, CA, November 19-21, 2008, right after MILCOM, which takes place a few blocks away at the San Diego Convention Center. We are now accepting abstract submissions for panelists at QualNet World. Panelists get 15 minutes to present their QualNet project and then lead a discussion with fellow panelists about topics related to their work. Submit an abstract today. Graduate students who are currently members of the QualNet University Program (QUP) are invited to apply for QUP Awards of Distinction. If you are doing interesting, innovative work with QualNet, you are eligible. Awards will be handed out at QualNet World, November 19-21, 2008 in San Diego, California. Recipients must be there to accept the award. How to Enter: SNT just announced a Call for Papers for QualNet World. Submit a paper abstract online about your work with QualNet by September 15th and QUP Award of Distinction winners will be announced by Oct. 1st. Awards will be presented at the QualNet World Dinner Banquet on Wednesday, November 19th, 2008. Winners must present their research at QualNet World 2008 on Friday November 21st in the QUP Award Panel Discussion. Prize: A cash prize of $300 will be awarded to each QUP Award of Distinction recipient. Also included is free admission to QualNet World 2008, a gathering of the world’s leading QualNet users and industry leaders in the field of network modeling, simulation and emulation.
